This particular microphone comes from the New York office of the BBC and was used most notably by the late Alistair Cooke in his broadcasts entiltled, “Letter from America” - the worlds longest running speech radio programme.
The Coles 4038 Studio Ribbon Microphone was designed by the BBC as a broadcast recording microphone with exceptionally flat frequency response from 30 Hz to 15,000 Hz.
